TV199 Wants You to Be Ready for the Coming Digital Transition!
The Essentials
On June 12, 2009, if you have what we call an Analog TV set, and you turn it on, you will see nothing on your screen. Why? Because Congress passed a law saying that as of that date, all full-power broadcasters - your local networks, satellite companies - all must transmit their programs in a new Digital Format.
What does that mean? It means you must have a digital converter box, or a Digital TV to watch your television programs. The following will help you determine what kind of set you have, and what you must do to be prepared for 2009.
All TV sets sold prior to Fall 1998 are Analog
All TV sets sold after May 25, 2007 should be digital
